Full Frame: A different glimpse of Cuba

Margarita Vega Laza, one of three women whose stories are told in the documentary “Tocando La Luz” (“Touch the Light”), compares the lives of individual Cubans to that country’s long-running struggles for independence.

“We Cubans have incorporated our whole history into our daily lives,” she says in the film. “It’s a struggle that’s within all of us,” Vega says.

“Tocando La Luz” is about three blind Cuban women and their different journeys to find independence. The film by director and producer Jennifer Redfearn and co-producer and photography director Tim Metzger will have its world premiere Saturday at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, which runs today through Sunday at a wide array of downtown Durham venues…
